Q+A: Rabbits
AMIE ASKED:
Which plants are at the biggest risk of being eaten by rabbits?
The rabbits have already surprised me by eating some of my tulips!
Response:
The rabbits had a good nosh on my crocuses this spring.
They didn’t seem to bother with my tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers or melon. But they devoured okra, brocolli, peas, lettuce, and sweet peas.
I don’t recall whether they ate beans, but I’d be worried about beans—and anything related to brocolli—so cabbabe and cauliflower too.
I’m not sure if rabbits like corn—but I’d be wary of racoons who might snatch the cobs just as they approach readiness.
